Sales in China are very important to Apple, because they represent a huge share of the market. And as the filing of tax results from Apple shareholders is scheduled for October 20, the weekend before the conference is important to further increase the number of iPhone sales. These numbers will not be part of the quarterly results (which closed in September), but will help to comfort the souls of the shareholders for the next results.
